I think the old way we viewed government has been effectively dismantled. In this new era, it will be too difficult for the next administration to recover the old working systems... just to have the administration after that tear it all apart to make things great again. One thing we can focus on is how our local government can have more impact and consistency in our quality of life. Systems that are being dismantled by federal government can be supported by the state. We can elect and rely on our local leaders to help meet needs and find solutions for concerns. I see a natural optimism, hope, and tangible solutions by paradigmatically changing our government emphasis.
I agree that Democrats must envision government differently. Empowering local government is a good starting point. Democrats have often favored nationalization, but we should start thinking differently. But we can’t get stuck just defending legacy systems just because they are under assault by MAGA. I think people want decent governance. But that means stepping on some toes. It is crazy, for example, that some Democrats are defenders of homeless encampments. This is a lose-lose proposition. Let’s not waste energy defending a legacy system that most people hate and get behind a system that will actually provide better housing and dignity for the unsheltered. Thank you Jokya for your thoughts.
Just want to thank you for your posts. It helps me to navigate the new administration. I do not know what lies ahead. The mid term elections cannot come soon enough. No need to respond.

Where am I wrong in this thought process?

It will be the sons and daughters of MAGA who fight this stupid war if it were to happen and that would not go down so well.
